I thought it was fitting to make my first blog post of the spring to be about how to build your spring wardrobe and what items to start with! There are many pieces that I continue to wear each spring and summer until they need to be thrown away, but also some items I like to purchase at the beginning of the season. Adding a new top or shoes to a dress you already own is a great way to make the outfit feel new again!
Kitten Heels & Slingback Heels – these are a must for spring! They look so elegant with a pair of mom jeans and basic white tee. Also, great to wear with wide legged trousers or joggers. I mean, who doesn’t want to channel their inner Princess Diana or Jackie O!?!?
A great white button down– something you can dress up or down, and honestly something that you need in your wardrobe year round!
Straw Hat – to block out the sun while looking chic. Also, to make up for your beach hair that hasn’t been washed in 1 or 5 days :) But for real, BLOCK THAT SUN!!!!
A lightweight blazer – Blazers are all the rage right now, and they aren’t gong anywhere any time soon! Again, something that will go great with a pair of denim and basic tee. This will be a very transitional piece in your wardrobe and something that can take your look from work to happy hour or date night.
Eyelet – a beautiful pattern option for spring and summer weddings.
Mom Jeans! – To go with all of the above!
Trousers – Trousers are a great piece that can carry you from work to night out. They look great with kitten heels and even sneakers for a casual look!
Lilac – the color of the year! So get you something in that pretty purple color!
Basket Bag – a spring and summer staple. Tie a scarf around the handle and you are ready for a glass of rose in the Hamptons!
Steamer – summer fabrics are the worst with getting all wrinkled (especially linen!), so you need to purchase a steamer that you can travel with. I’ve had this steamer for 2 years now and don’t know how I ever lived without it!
Lipstick – bc it’s a must & I always feel naked without it :) Nude is a great color for spring!
Slides – slides are so cute and effortlessly chic even when worn with cutoff denim shorts and a tank. They can get you around the beach and from store to store when running errands.
